Green Tourism gold since 2010 Alexander House is very much dedicated to being sustainable. A ground source heat pump and solar panels provide energy and the house was built to high eco standards.

Guests are presented with a range of information about the area including a variety of local caterers who can deliver on site and local restaurant suggestions are made depending on their commitment to using local produce.

A range of walking information, maps and routes are provided as well as a selection of bikes to use to explore the area without the use of a car.

There are nesting boxes and feeders to encourage wildlife and plants have been planted to attract insects and butterflies. In addition a night & day telescope is set up within the house and a planetarium device is available to show a map of the stars.
